UCLA Phonetics Lab Archive

Welcome to the UCLA Phonetics Lab Archive. For over half a century, the UCLA Phonetics Laboratory has collected recordings of hundreds of languages from around the world, providing source materials for phonetic and phonological research. On this website, we hope to make our materials more easily accessible, serving the interests of scholars, speakers, and language learners everywhere.

While our collections are open to everyone, our materials are primarily intended to be used by the linguistics community. Our audio material, together with its supplemental text, is comprised mainly of recordings intended to illustrate the phonetic structures of languages.

This site is made possible through funds provided by the National Science Foundation.
